You will be part of our DF&H (Diversified Food & Health) division more specifically with our preservation team. This group has 70% of the canning industry through thermal processing. As our Controls Engineer you will report to the Controls Engineering Supervisor and you will create electrical designs, drawings, and specifications for food processing equipment, using all technologies. You will use AutoCAD and other software to deliver high-quality equipment designs and drawings at the lowest possible cost. On a given day, you may: Write application code using Visual Basic, C++, PLC, and OIT programs. Create designs, drawings, BOMs, specifications, and ensure that projects meet specifications, standards, and performance requirements within your area of expertise. Develop PLC programs to control industrial food processing equipment. Create functional OIT screens for operator interaction. Identify causes of problems, develop alternative solutions, and communicate associated benefits and risks. Be recognized as a technical leader, offering contributions to a variety of problems and projects. Use advanced product line knowledge to assist Application Engineering and Customer Service in creating complex quotes for machines and parts. Communicate with technical professionals outside of the local organization. Work with sales, service, methods, and production departments Requirements for the role BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. At least 3+ years of relevant experience in industrial machine controls. Understanding of PC-based control systems with Microsoft O/S. Proficiency in programming with Visual Basic and C++, PLCs and GUI systems. Read machine control electrical schematics. Configure industrial machine controls, including AC/DC drives. Proficiency in using ERP-based business systems such as JDE or equivalent. Experience with internal economic factors affecting assignment areas (costs, margins, profit impact of decisions). Travel & Location You will report onsite at JBT's Madera, CA location and we ask that you travel to multiple JBT or customers' sites inside and outside of the U.S around 15% of the time. COMPENSATION RANGE: $73000-$95000 Compensation is determined on experience and skill. This job description is a general description of essential job functions.
