The Controls Engineer works closely with Sales, Project Management, Mechanical Engineering, Suppliers, and installation teams to create the necessary documentation to sell, produce, install, & operate material handling equipment.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties as assigned.
Develop electrical schematics for conveyor type systems using 2-D CAD software. Create PLC ladder logic for multiple types of PLCs Create HMI applications. Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues pertaining to the Company’s engineered products Travel to customers sites as requested to evaluate product installations, assist with startup and testing, troubleshoot to ensure the conveyors and accessories are operating to customer specifications and requirements Be willing to engage with the engineering team or other associates in the company to evaluate and work toward improving existing approaches, methods and performance measures. Translate customer requirements into a 2D/3D Cad layout of a system in cooperation with the Sales or Project Team. Perform electrical engineering and design for the application of equipment into an overall material handling system. Provide direction for applying correct material handling equipment based on product and system requirements. Generate specifications, system layouts and Bill of Material for the procurement, manufacturing, and installation of the equipment. Assists in the preparation of quotes and proposals to present to customers. Work independently to collect: information to create the drawings, site measurements, and required information from subcontractors or suppliers Create specifications for special features. Perform other duties as deemed necessary by management. Responsible for coordinating and monitoring completion of equipment site acceptance and reporting readiness of segments for commissioning via signed installation documents. Attend post project meetings to recommend design or concept changes if problems arose during the installation process.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree 3+ years working in conveyor, material handling or related industry. Expert at AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and advanced MS Excel Ability to travel domestically 20-30% Preparing and maintaining electrical engineering documentation for project procedures and safety requirements. Perform work as required to meet project schedule Conveyor application engineering Electrical/Controls Engineering principles and tools Rockwell Studio5000 PLC Programming Rockwell FactoryTalk View Studio and/or Rockwell Optix HMI platforms 460VAC / 120VAC / 24VDC Electrical Design Experience Electrical Troubleshooting
