Controls Engineer
Job Description: Controls Engineer We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming and debugging structure text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms, developing organized and maintainable code, and creating robust programs for complex machinery. Additionally, this role involves using Python scripting and SQL to interface equipment with manufacturing systems, creating intuitive operator interfaces, and managing electrical cabinet builds and field wiring. Responsibilities + Program and debug structure text and ladder logic code on multiple PLC controller platforms including Automation Studio, Beckhoff TwinCAT, and Siemens TIA Portal. + Develop organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable code. + Create robust programs to control complex, multi-station machinery for processes such as material pick and place, dispensing, fastening, welding, testing, and material transport. + Use Python scripting and SQL to interface equipment with manufacturing execution systems and collect data into production databases. + Create intuitive operator touchscreen interfaces using MappView/TwinCAT HMI and SCADA dashboards using Ignition. + Set up and tune servo drives and VFDs for fast and smooth operation (Schneider, Beckhoff, Siemens, SEW). + Design and implement control reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high-volume manufacturing equipment as per codes and standards. + Manage electrical cabinet builds, field wiring, pneumatic, and fluid plumbing. + Participate in initial equipment conceptual development, balancing product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits. + Manage suppliers during specification, design, buyoff, and installation of automated manufacturing equipment. Essential Skills + PLC programming with experience in developing code. + HMI programming. + OEM or System integration. + 4+ years of experience in automation. + Experience with controls hardware including sensors, remote IO, servos, VFDs, machine vision, barcode readers, etc. + Industrial networking protocols such as Profinet, Ethernet I/P, EtherCAT, etc. + Experience with 6-axis robots (FANUC primary). + Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls and Computer Control Systems, Mechatronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
