Controls Engineer
Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description The primary mission of this position is to lead activities related to equipment characteristic improvement for the Ohio Transmission Plant, High Pressure Die Cast Department. This will be accomplished by performing true root cause analysis of top problems and implementing countermeasures. Responsibilities + Perform root cause analysis of top equipment problems and implement permanent countermeasures. + Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends related to equipment performance. + Identify improvement opportunities for Key Performance Indicators and for cost avoidance/elimination. + Become an expert in a specific area of automation technology (e.g., PLC, Motion Control, Robotics) and train associates on equipment or process changes. + Manage the lifecycle of manufacturing equipment, including spare parts, procedures, and preventive maintenance. + Define and create the scope of design and construction for renovation, upgrade of existing electrical systems, or for building new systems with a focus on cost control. + Conduct PDCA during design and implementation stages, create and maintain project schedules, and achieve desired outcomes. + Verify and approve electrical engineering drawings at various design completion levels. + Work with and manage contractors' activities throughout different phases of a project. + Use manufacturing expertise to support the company’s development of new processes. Essential Skills + PLC programming + Automation + Programming + Robotics + PLC troubleshooting + AutoCAD Electrical + Schematics + HMI + Electrical troubleshooting + Controls engineering Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or 6 years equivalent experience in lieu of a degree + Ability to interact in a team environment + Robotics + Vision systems + Electrical controls + Safety systems + Servo motor + VFD control + MS Office Work Environment This position is located in the high pressure die cast department. Work conditions include 50% office environment and 50% production floor environment. There will be approximately 2 weeks of domestic and international travel and 300-500 hours of overtime annually.
