Job Description
We are seeking a Controls Engineer specializing in Automation for a 6+ month contract with the potential for hire. The successful candidate will support internal equipment that is installed and commissioned at various locations. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in Controls Engineering, specifically with custom automated equipment.
ResponsibilitiesSupport internal equipment used at various sites.Program PLCs using Siemens and/or Rockwell Automation.Develop HMI interfaces.Design electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.Program and troubleshoot robotics, specifically Fanuc robots.Regularly troubleshoot equipment on the production floor.Occasionally travel (up to 10%) to other sites for installation and commissioning.Essential Skills3+ years of Controls Engineering experience with custom automated equipment.Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens and Rockwell Automation).Experience with HMI/SCADA development (WinCC and Ignition).Knowledge of controls hardware such as sensors, remote IO, servos, VFDs, machine vision, and barcode readers.Understanding of industrial networking protocols: Profinet, Ethernet I/P, EtherCAT.Experience with 6-axis robotics (Fanuc).Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls and Computer Control Systems, Mechatronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsExposure to AutoCAD Electrical schematic design.Experience working with other robotics systems besides Fanuc.Work Environment
The Brooklyn Park site builds custom equipment for manufacturing sites and has a team of approximately 20-25 Controls Engineers, as well as Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. The role requires regular troubleshooting on the production floor and may involve occasional travel (up to 10%) for equipment installation and commissioning.
