Job Description
The Controls Engineer's primary responsibility in this role is maintaining and upgrading current controls systems. This is a new manufacturing facility and does not need much new equipment. This individual will be working on new equipment but not installing or integrating new equipment. Also responsible for creating, documenting, developing, supporting, and improving upon the control systems that are essential to the production processes. Involvement will range from initial project sourcing all the way through SOP +90 days, or as required for corporate employees or launch through EOP plant employees. Both may be required to support implementation of engineering changes for current production products. You will provide your controls expertise to help in tooling design and automation for new projects and process changes driven by product engineering changes. Additionally, responsible for the transfer of all equipment and process documentation to the Production Plant prior to SOP; this includes all OEM equipment documentation (electronic and hard copies of manuals, BOM, drawings, recommended spare parts, and recommended PM's). Participating in the development of RFQ's and Equipment Specifications for Capital and Tooling Requirements. Responsible for programming torque control systems and joint development. Selection of error and mistake proofing devices. Supports Engineering Cost Estimator to supply quoted assumptions for the assembly process requirements, capital/tooling investments, and direct/indirect labor. Help establish design goals, process, and equipment specifications for Controls and Electrical power distribution systems.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain and upgrade current controls systems.Work on new equipment without installing or integrating.Create, document, develop, support, and improve control systems essential to production processes.Involvement from initial project sourcing through SOP +90 days.Support the implementation of engineering changes for current production products.Provide controls expertise for tooling design and automation for new projects and process changes.Transfer all equipment and process documentation to the Production Plant prior to SOP.Participate in the development of RFQs and Equipment Specifications for Capital and Tooling Requirements.Program torque control systems and joint development.Select error and mistake-proofing devices.Support Engineering Cost Estimator with assembly process requirements, capital/tooling investments, and labor.Establish design goals, process, and equipment specifications for Controls and Electrical power distribution systems.Essential SkillsPLC programming experience (1-3 years) with Allen Bradley Micro Logic, SLC 500's, and RSLogix 5000 processors.Experience with troubleshooting PLCs.Experience in root cause analysis in manufacturing.Just-in-Time manufacturing experience.Experience with communication and training for maintenance personnel.Ability to think quickly and identify problems or seek support when needed.Experience in programming Vision Systems (Cognex, DVT, Keyence).HMI programming experience (AB PanelView and PanelView Plus).Experience with Manual and Automated Assembly Systems and Technologies.Technical experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, and RS View.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with robotics, Allen Bradley PLC, HMI, and schematic reading.A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Controls Engineer or Maintenance Technician.Work Environment
This is a brand new facility. Safety vests must be worn at all times. The second shift runs from 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM, currently 6 days a week. The third shift runs from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM. There is one opening on each shift. Each shift runs with one engineer and two maintenance team members.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00
