Summary/Objective: The Controls Engineer will review the beam line for issues during operation and design/implement improvements to eliminate the issues. Many of these issues will be relatively minor and some will be substantial. All improvements will have a measurable effect on the Overall Equipment Effectiveness of the line. Duties and Responsibilities: Become familiar with the operation of the entire line, all 11 OPs. Use data and observation to note and prioritize potential improvements. Identify improvement ideas. Review ideas with team and solicit feedback. Refine ideas and select best approach. Finalize program for modification. Implement on the line. Verify effectiveness of improvements. Working Conditions: Primarily working indoors, office environment and manufacturing shop floor. May sit for several hours at a time. Prolonged exposure to computer screens. Repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers, and copiers. Interaction/work on production floor hardware and HMI devices. Qualifications: High School/GED required. Controls Technology degree desired. Controls Engineering degree desired. 5+ years of directly applicable controls experience may replace the degree requirements. Essential Functions: PLC programming and troubleshooting Allen Bradley – primary Siemens – secondary Omron - secondary Data analysis Competencies: Communication proficiency Organizational skills Initiative Team player Decision making Controls aptitude Hands-on with manufacturing equipment MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel) PLC programming Familiarity with Fanuc robot controls desirable Supervisory Responsibility: This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member will be required to talk and hear. This position may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The Team Member may have to lift and/or move items over 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time salary position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and your reporting manager. Travel: Travel will be minimal and would be primarily local during the business day. Preferred Education and Experience: Prefer BS-Engineering with solid (5+ years) manufacturing experience. Additional Eligibility Qualifications: English language is preferred for communication with other team members and internal/external resources.
