Controls Engineer
Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description

The candidate will initially support active projects and then transition to completing projects directly. They will take the lead on developing software for new projects, primarily focusing on software design on the PLC (program from scratch). They may also debug software on new machines. This role requires travel to customer sites for equipment installation and customer interaction. The programs supported include both stand equipment and assembly programs for major automotive clients. The candidate will work on the lifecycle of the project from software design to debugging for Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and onsite commissioning for Site Acceptance Test (SAT).

ResponsibilitiesDesign PLC software and HMIs for industrial automation equipment.Debug and troubleshoot PLC software and HMIs.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain project timelines and critical path milestones.Maintain task lists and reports of open items.Maintain project design documentation and prepare customer deliverables.Ensure the controls engineering process is tracked and followed.Assist customers and local tradespeople in troubleshooting equipment issues.Conduct end-user training on equipment operation.Essential SkillsAt least 5 years of experience working as an Engineer, ideally in a controls/automation capacity.Experience in computer programming languages such as Visual Basic, C/C++, or C#.Previous software design experience in Ladder Logic or structured text.Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering.Experience with PLC programming in ladder and structured text.Experience programming HMIs.Working knowledge of industry standards, including NEC (National Electric Code)/NFPA, OSHA, and ANSI.Work Environment

You will work with a team of 7 engineers who specialize in software controls. Possible weekend work may be required to support module builds or installations. Travel up to 25% may be necessary to support the installation of equipment onsite at client locations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $55.00/hr.
