Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Controls Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and planning maintenance actions, optimizing production processes, and providing technical assistance to plant personnel. You will also be involved in new equipment design, training plant personnel, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and plan maintenance actions, including preventive, planned, and crisis maintenance.Ensure all safety standards are met during maintenance activities.Optimize current production processes.Coach plants in continuous improvement, standardization, and lean concepts.Assist plants in addressing equipment downtime issues.Develop preventative and predictive maintenance practices to ensure 100% equipment uptime.Train and educate plant personnel and leadership.Provide input on new equipment design and purchase.Support new model and equipment launches as required.Assist in quality-related actions that improve machine reliability.Act as the point of contact for Plant Engineering, local vendors, and commodity suppliers regarding equipment issues.Drive maintenance metrics within the department.Issue regular reports on maintenance metrics.Support and coach problem-solving activities within the department, focusing on reliability and maintainability.Coordinate maintenance planning and shutdown planning actions within the department.Support work group and department meetings regarding equipment improvement and JPH actions.Participate actively in JPH Roadmap reviews.Provide technical assistance to personnel and areas where necessary.Identify training needs for skilled employees and coordinate training plans for the department.Work with FIS, AVS, and other manufacturing systems.Coordinate skilled personnel during breakdowns to minimize production disturbance.Actively participate in simultaneous engineering meetings, forward planning, and product design to ensure maintainability standards are followed.Perform FIS shift edits.Participate in FPS meetings (202/207).Essential Skills3+ years of experience within a manufacturing setting.3+ years of experience in automation engineering.Engineering degree in electrical, troubleshooting, robotics, or controls engineering.Experience working with, teaching, and supervising skilled trades.Experience addressing robot and press breakdowns.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working within a stamping or sub-assembly plant.Work Environment
This role is based in a Michigan Assembly Plant with a business casual dress code. The facility operates on a '4 Crew' (ABCD) shift schedule, with shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am. Employees will work 3 days one week and have the next 4 days off, then work 4 days the following week and have 3 days off. This schedule includes active participation in various department and engineering meetings.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.87 - $42.88/hr.
