Controls Engineer
Job Title: Controls Engineer Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controls Automation Engineer to join our team. This role involves providing technical services and controls automation solutions to resolve manufacturing issues and enhance operational performance. The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical design, PLC/HMI programming, and industrial network architectures. Responsibilities + Serve as a technical resource to plants and the engineering group, providing technical services and Controls Automation solutions to resolve manufacturing issues and enhance operational performance. + Understand and apply Rockwell PLC/HMI and drives, electrical design, Windows-based PCs and VMs, and industrial network architectures to a manufacturing environment. + Collaborate actively as a team member in a high-performance cross-functional work team, including plant and regional manufacturing technical resources, engineering, and IT. + Support the adoption and implementation of electrical and control standards across the manufacturing enterprise. + Provide top-notch technical support to the manufacturing enterprise, ensuring a safety-first environment that delivers value to producers and high-quality products to customers. + Understand and have experience in manufacturing processes in industrial plants (preferably Food and Beverage), electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. + Develop, plan, and execute technical solutions, including equipment bills of materials, scope of work, estimates, and participation in proposal reviews, providing timely status updates. + Facilitate knowledge transfer and implementation of approved standards and practices for electrical and control systems, including network implementation, PLCs, HMIs, field devices, and control network systems. + Cover night shift on-call duties to support all plants and provide support to the home base plant at night. + Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis to effectively resolve issues and deliver sustainable solutions in collaboration with plant technical peers. + Facilitate and support various manufacturing processes and control systems within Operations, collaborating with Engineering, IT, Operations, Corporate management, and vendor resources. + Provide production support and maintenance for enterprise systems, including Environmental Health & Safety, OEE and Plant Key Performance Metrics, Process Controls and Automation, reporting and analytics systems for Operations, and others as directed. Essential Skills + Proficiency in electrical design, PLC/HMI programming, and instrumentation, including Rockwell PLC/HMI and drives. + Experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical and controls systems. + Ability to actively collaborate as a team member in a high-performance cross-functional work team environment. + Strong leadership skills to support and drive electrical and control standards adoption and implementation. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documentation standards. + Ability to consistently meet deadlines and see projects through to completion. Additional Skills & Qualifications + B.S. degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical) or 5+ years of experience in systems integration, managing manufacturing process control applications, supporting software and databases, and ongoing process improvement efforts. + 2+ years of experience supporting manufacturing process controls networks, infrastructure, and security systems. + Experience in developing PLC and HMI solutions (AllenBradley / FactoryTalk preferable) and specifying hardware and software for controls and automation projects. + Experience with controls power distribution layouts, panel layouts, and hardware specification. Work Environment This role is an on-site position requiring full-time on-site work in a manufacturing environment, including dairy and office settings. The candidate must be willing to be hands-on on the floor and provide after-hours and critical incident support, requiring response at the plant while on-call within 45 minutes. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
