Controls Engineer I

The Controls Engineer I, is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing control systems for Daikin’s cutting-edge HVAC equipment. Under direct supervision, you will collaborate with project teams, design detailed control systems, program control sequences, and ensure systems operate efficiently and effectively to meet the environmental needs of various customers.

 

Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope. Under supervision, gives limited advice and analyzes information within a specific function for others within the organization. Under the close guidance of experienced engineers, evaluates, analyzes, and makes recommendations on products, designs, and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of the company. Supports the planning and development of test programs for prototypes. Analyzes test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications. Assists in analyzing, evaluating, sourcing, and coordination of the procurement of new materials and components to support model changes. With direction, analyzes, evaluates, and recommends cost improvement ideas through product, vendor, and design changes. Performs technical analysis of competitive products. Provides support to sales and marketing on product presentations and customer literature. Provides support to manufacturing to implement control systems into manufactured products

 

Qualifications:

 

4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in a Technical, Scientific, or Engineering program

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited institution in Electrical, Mechanical, Control Systems, or a related field 6+ months of experience in software development or HVAC programming Understanding of HVAC equipment and components Ability to read and understand electrical schematic Exposure to fundamentals of instrumentation, including RTDs, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, electrical and power measurements, and analog/digital data acquisition. Formal coursework in the areas of measurement systems, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, and strength of materials preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to multitask & reprioritize tasks frequently Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively with laboratory, design, and product marketing teams
