Position Summary:  

The Controls Engineer supports instrumentation and controls systems for the company’s manufacturing plants. This position troubleshoots, supports the development of process/system improvements and preventive and predictive maintenance development. The Controls Engineer monitors contractor performance, as needed, for new instrumentation or controls systems for the company’s manufacturing plants.

 

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: 

Troubleshoot and diagnose instrumentation and controls issues in industrial equipment and processes using experience, system knowledge and proper instruments appropriate to the voltages and currents encountered Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices Read and translate information found within building and process blueprints and one-line diagrams to install outlets, circuits, load centers and other forms of electrical equipment Understand calibration procedures for process instruments, which measure temperature, pressure, flow, level and composition and process controls Troubleshoot, maintain and update HMI applications using software, i.e., FTView ME/SE, iFix, WonderWare, Ignition, etc. Install, maintain and troubleshoot VFD’s and servo drives Operate diagnostic equipment including meters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, Thermograph imager, and process calibrators Demonstrate equipment functions and features to front-line employees Record maintenance, repair, parts and materials used, and order new parts and materials as needed Communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, mechanics and other plant team members to help facilitate the troubleshooting and repair process Use Good Manufacturing Procedures (cGMP) in the execution of daily work activities Define, design, develop, document, and support of systems, software and equipment used in control systems in all facets of manufacturing Support the Total Manufacturing Process (TPM) Implement change to achieve the company’s business goals Communicate to management all issues which may affect the operational capability of the plant’s processes and equipment Ensure the safety needs are given a top priority in operations support and work execution, i.e., Arc Flash/Shock Hazard safety, confined space entry, LOTO, hazardous materials, hand tool safe use, etc.  Perform tasks in a safe manner to achieve Quality, Service and Cost objectives Other projects or duties as assigned
