Controls Engineer - Only 10-15% Travel

BENEFITS: YES PAY: $30-43 an hour depending on experienceSCHEDULE/ENVIRONMENT: On-site; This will primarily be working out of their office but will require 10-15% travel.

Description:

This client designs and makes separating equipment for a variety of industries. They are currently looking for a Controls Engineer to join their team. This position will supplement their existing engineers in support of current project and design of future projects. This position will allow someone to expand their knowledge of electrical design and controls programming by working with many different PLC, HMI, and VFD manufacturers.

Electrical:

- Develop electrical schematics in CAD for control panels

- Power up electrical systems and configure hardware per application specifications

- Help establish new and maintain existing standards

- Check quality of assemblers and technicians work and respond to inquiries as needed

- Research, design, and program new, as well as maintain existing, VFDs as required per customer requirements

- Work with the sales group to provide input with quote preparation as required

- Assist with wiring up machines and skidded system in their shop

Software:

- Design and develop software applications (PLC and HMI) based on given requirements and specifications

- Understand client requirements for communication interface/networking and create specifications based on these requirements

- Review, repair and redesign legacy code

- Troubleshoot issues with existing installed systems

- Write user manuals to communicate functionality of company developed programs

 MUST HAVES:

- Bachelor's degree

- 2-5 years of experience working with controls and automation

- Familiarity with PLC and HMI software and hardware (Rockwell, Allen-Bradley, Siemens)

- Able to program Allen Bradley, Rockwell, and/or Siemens PLCs

- Familiarity with electrical CAD software

- Has utilized AutoCAD to design schematics, wiring diagrams, control panels, etc.

NICE TO HAVES:

- Would like someone coming from one of the following bckgrnd/industry: Municipal Wastewater, Pharmaceutical, Oil/Gas, or automotive
