Controls Software Engineer
Job Title: Controls Software Engineer Job Description We are currently seeking an experienced Controls Software Engineer within the pharmaceutical industry. This company is one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing companies in Columbus, Ohio, providing over 750 high-quality generic, specialty, and branded pharmaceutical products to hospitals, physicians, and pharmacists across North America, the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. Responsibilities + Develop technological ideas and guide their development into final products. + Update and maintain complex customized software solutions, databases, and automated tools requiring coordination across multiple organizations to enhance operational and engineering efficiencies. + Research new software technologies for automation software solutions to improve business and engineering processes. + Analyze, compare, and select software best suited for various applications and provide highly innovative solutions. + Lead technical computerized projects involving planning, design, specification, installation, startup, and validation of computerized automation systems and upgrades. + Ensure site specifications, standards, and cGMP compliance expectations are met and that good engineering practices are followed. + Run complex group projects with minimal direction - identify, propose, and champion creative solutions articulating the business value created. + Represent the organization as the prime technical contact for software solutions and apply extensive technical expertise while demonstrating knowledge of other related disciplines. + Facilitate functional forums for the site, regionally, and globally. + Troubleshoot control and instrumentation systems to resolve complex equipment issues. + Provide engineering expertise and technical guidance to maintenance for repairs, design changes, or other corrections as a result of troubleshooting or performance evaluation. + Develop calibration, preventative maintenance, and additional procedures in support of systems and instruments installed. + Identify continuous improvement activities for automation control and software systems throughout the site and champion solutions aligned with site and department metrics, Business Objectives, and Strategy. + Identify areas of opportunity to improve equipment and component reliability. Essential Skills + Experience in developing customized automation software solutions using Inductive Automation Ignition, SQL, and server operating systems. + Experience troubleshooting PLCs in Allen-Bradley. + Pharmaceutical industry experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Engineering. + Minimum of 4 years of professional experience. + Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment experience is a plus. Work Environment This role is based in one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing companies in Columbus, OH. Employees enjoy an annual performance bonus, commission, and share potential. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $57.69/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
