Job Description

Position Summary:

Our standard and custom high-speed automated packaging equipment enables our customers to excel in highly competitive food and pharmaceutical industries. The Controls Technician is an integral role in Syntegon’s success in leading the world’s packaging machinery market.

The Technicians will lead our equipment builds, startups, application set up optimizations and implement creative and effective solutions to complex automation and application problems. This is a fast pace, dynamic and team centric work environment that requires self-motivation and independence paired with empowerment to be impactful for the organization and to meet our customer’s expectations.

Essential Functions:

Expert level support for complex software, controls and automation problems on the shop floorPerforming electrical & software automation commissioning tasks. This includes downloading software, firmware and configuration files to machine controllers, HMI’s, servo drives, VFD’s and other devices utilized on Syntegon equipmentDefine dipswitch or Ethernet IP address settings of connected devicesPerform I/O, motion and communications testing for equipment to ensure proper wiring and functionality of connected devicesPerform functional and communications setup and testing between Syntegon equipment and third party equipment. This may include printing devices, vision systems, conveyors, pick & place equipment, bowl feeders, robots, etcEfficiently building and modifying mechanical assemblies per the bill of material and assembly drawings while using hand and power toolsEfficiently wiring machines, panels and control circuitry (up to 575 Volts), adding electrical components based on project layouts and wiring diagrams (per NFPA 79)Successfully troubleshoots and problem solves live power and control circuitry with test equipmentLead efforts to perform and document machine setups of all recipe/machine parameters in order to optimize machine performanceConducting a successful customer factory acceptance test while demonstrating and training customers on equipment operations and equipment functionalitySupporting and coordinating activities and controls and software improvements with the controls engineering teamObserving all safety regulations, making sure of wearing and using proper protective wear and tools, informing supervisor of any safety issues or hazardsContribute and be responsible to the Quality and Enviromental awareness throughout the organization

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

2 year Technical Degree. Preferred in Packaging, Automation or Robotics Degrees5 years job related experience in building automated capital equipment

Compensation for roles at Syntegon varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience. At Syntegon compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Total rewards at Syntegon include salary + bonus (if applicable) + benefits.

The expected compensation range for this position is between $73,000.00 to $92,000.00 based on a full-time schedule.
