Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:

Identify process improvement, capacity, and cost reduction projects based on process data. Manage the electrical and controls scope of process performance improvement (OEE), recipe management, and projects (Safety, Yield, Cost, Capacity). Provide problem solving controls support for plant equipment.

 

Work Hours and Schedule:

Nominal working hours are M – F, 8 AM – 5 PM. Informal 24/7 coverage for ad-hoc call-in support is required. (1st Level Subject Matter Expert)

 

Educations and Experience:

3-5 years manufacturing experience working with PLCs / HMIs / VFDs controlling process and automation equipment

 

Travel:

Less than 2%

 

Required Skills:

Must have experience in programming of Allen Bradley ControlLogix v20 systems and higher Ability to generate, debug and modify PLC code  Must have experience in programming of HMI / SCADA systems programming in a plant environment.  Ensure proactive safety measures for all equipment and processes. Ensure safety procedures, such as Lock-Out Tag-Out, are followed at all times. Modify / generate electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical for systems changes including control panel layouts, component documentation, and schematics. Review electrical drawing packages for conformance to Corning standards. Strong fundamental understanding of 3 phase electrical systems, machine/motion control systems, electro-mechanical systems, VFD and Servo programming, communication protocols, and practical application Ability to reach fundamental understanding of controls issues utilizing sound troubleshooting skills Capable of executing project assignments, in a team-based environment, with minimal supervision Thoroughly carry out assignments to completion

 

Desired Skills:

Knowledge of legacy controls equipment, networks, and software Experience with the OSI PI (historian) interface Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills Experience with higher level communications protocols – Red Lion / GE IFIX

The range for this position is  $56,926.00   -  $78,273.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
