Job Description
Installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relay equipment, powerline carrier equipment, digital fault recorders (DFR’s), remote terminal units (RTU’s), and communication processors. This role involves functional testing for protection and control circuitry associated with transmission lines, HV bus, transformer, circuit breaker, feeder, reactors, and capacitor banks. Additionally, RTU and telecom upgrades for various clients are part of the job.
ResponsibilitiesInstall, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment, powerline carrier equipment, digital fault recorders (DFR’s), remote terminal units (RTU’s), and communication processors.Conduct functional testing for protection and control circuitry associated with transmission lines, HV bus, transformer, circuit breaker, feeder, reactors, and capacitor banks.Perform RTU and telecom upgrades for various clients.Work with SEL microprocessor relays such as 311C, 311L, 387, 411L, 421, 487B, 487E, 487V, 587, 587Z, and 787.Desired experience with GE microprocessor relays such as C30, D60, F35, L90, T35 and T60.Work with various RTU’s and communication processors such as GE, Telvent, SEL, and Novatech.Accurately review, document, and submit test reports used for client reporting and regulatory purposes.Interpret one line, three line, wiring, schematic diagrams, and communication configurations, recognizing and addressing discrepancies.Accurately complete time and expense reports while maintaining good condition of assigned company vehicle.Essential SkillsMinimum 3 years of experience in relay testing.Minimum 3 years of experience in the installation, testing, and maintenance of relay equipment.Minimum 3 years of experience with powerline carrier equipment including circuit breakers, transformers, and reactors.Experience with SEL microprocessor relays.Ability to interpret one line, three line, wiring, and schematic diagrams.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with GE microprocessor relays.Experience with various RTU’s and communication processors such as GE, Telvent, SEL, and Novatech.Accurate review and documentation skills for client reporting and regulatory purposes.Work Environment
The employee will consistently be on-site at various projects. Work attire includes jeans, steel toe boots, and long sleeve shirts. PPE will be provided. The position requires working approximately 45-50 hours a week. The team is small but focused on quality with low turnover
