The Food Service Department at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for a talented Cook to join our team!
Forget the old idea of flavorless “hospital food”. We make REAL food from scratch with nutritious ingredients to amaze our patients and café customers. You will follow our standardized recipes, however, our menu is ever changing. If you work hard to prove yourself you may be rewarded with opportunities to add your own creative ideas.
This position is responsible for preparing, cooking and serving food for patients, staff and visitors. The Cook must work in a clean manner following proper food handling techniques. This role must maintain and update knowledge of all equipment and supplies used in the dietary department.
Major Job Duties & Responsibilities
Prepares the meals as assigned following the menu.
Pulls the assigned prep foods.
Acts appropriately as a supervisor on shift when required.
Food served is high quality.
Completes the daily task sheets and other assigned paperwork properly.
Maintains the kitchen areas in a clean and orderly manner.
Restocks supplies if needed.
Reports any equipment failures.
Uses chemicals appropriately.
Refills all necessary supplies and dispensers as required.
Follows cooling procedures correctly.
Wears protective personal equipment as required.
Participates and contributes to department performance improvement and quality programs and initiatives
Utilizes attendance systems per organizational and departmental guidelines
Does meditech reports as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
Acts appropriately as a supervisor on shift when required.
Must be able to prepare meals as assigned.
Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment.
Ability to read, write and speak English.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions, including basic computer use.
Must meet all local health regulation requirements including a criminal background investigation and reference inquiry.
Educational Requirements
Safe Serve Preferred.
Experience
Previous health care cooking experience preferred
Schedule
Primarily eight (8) hour shifts up to 40 hours per week. Weekends and holidays are required to provide coverage. Hours and shifts may change or rotate to provide coverage and perform the necessary duties. Days worked and shift times are subject to change at the request of the manager.
