Pay Rate: $21.17 - $25.00/Hour

THE ROLE
As a Cook at The Oncenter, you will be responsible for more complex culinary tasks and assisting the Executive/Sous Chefs in all aspects of food preparation.
WHAT TO EXPECT
+ Work directly with Chefs and consults Chefs on any concerns.
+ Prepare/process/portion all foods as specified for Chefs.
+ Primary assignments include but are not limited to, hot foods, soups, sauces, meats, and presentation.
+ Read and follow recipes, adjusting as necessary.
+ Follow production sheets accurately and monitor results.
+ Follow facility and Chef’s safe food handling guidelines.
+ Taste and evaluate food before serving to ensure quality standards.
+ Operate all kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
+ Understand and use the “clean as you go” method.
+ Clean and sanitize all food service equipment and work area.
+ Work with management to conduct inventory on a regular basis.
+ Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and stocked work area following sanitation standards.
+ Maintain a professional appearance, and professional relationship with coworkers at all times.
+ Provide total guest satisfaction through skilled and capable service in accordance with New York State laws and regulations as well as Company policies, practices, and procedures.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Culinary Degree and/or directly related experience preferred.
+ One-year satisfactory cooking experience required; two-three years preferred.
+ ServSafe certification preferred.
SKILLS YOU’LL NEED
+ Ability to lead team members with culinary tasks.
+ Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
+ Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Desire and ability to work independently and as a team.
+ Exceptional hospitality and customer service skills, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
+ Ability to make professional, independent, and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
+ ServeSafe & TIPS certification a plus.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
+ Must be able to walk/stand or long periods of time.
+ Ability to work in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
+ Must have the physical ability to maneuver around the venue, at times walking and/or standing for 8-10 hours or greater, climbing stairs, lifting and carrying 50 lbs+, and frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting.
