When we do everything in service of our patients and caregivers, no detail gets ignored, and Cleveland Clinic understands that part of staying well is keeping up with nutritional needs. As a Cook, you will cook and prepare a variety of food for patients, caregivers, special events and visitors.   
 

A caregiver in this position works a day/evening rotation of 6:30AM – 3:00PM or 7:00AM – 5:30PM.  
 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Prepare assigned foods for service. 

Review menu and special orders to determine types and quantities of food items to be prepared. 

Follow standardized recipes in preparation of all foods. 

Plan cooking schedule with supervisor and/or dietitian to ensure food will be ready at specified times. 

Confer with dietitians regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers. 

Adhere to HACCP guidelines in the storage, handling, and preparation of food and in the sanitation and maintenance of work area. 

Obtain ServSafe certification within 6 months of hire.  
 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

High school diploma or GED. 

Two years prior cooking experience in a variety of menu items. 


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Successful completion of a formal training program for cooks or 3 or more years related experience. 

Knowledge of diets and IDSSI standards.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to manipulate objects for tools, reach with hands and arms, stoop and lift or move objects up to 75 pounds.Position requires normal or corrected vision.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
