CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. Responsibilities
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: Reports to the Dietary Supervisor. Prepares and cooks the main entrees and coordinates activities in the kitchen in order to provide tasty, attractive and nutritious products for our customers. Follow policy and procedure and the Mission and Philosophy of Community Memorial Hospital.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizes and plans day to complete job effectively. Recognizes priority work and completes it first. Completes all duties prior to end of shift. Reviews diet specifications on menus. Accuracy of diet cards. Accuracy of correct diet per resident. Accuracy of portion sizes per resident.Prepares foods as close to serving times as possible. Meals served on time. Snacks delivered to floor at proper times.Preps made before upcoming shift. Containers refilled when low or empty. Groceries unpacked and shelved or frozen within workday. Performs job independently with little supervision.Proper care of equipment daily. Proper care of work area daily. Daily cleaning schedule followed and initialed. Completes special cleaning.Good sanitation practices. Good safety practices. Reports any maintenance repairs or unsafe conditions to maintenance. Wears protective equipment as required.Proper handling and holding of food. Temps taken daily on all hot food and properly recorded. Hot foods served hot, cold foods served cold. Proper care of leftovers.Recipes and guidelines adhered to. Batch preparation as needed. Foods prepared of optimal quality. Meats are prepared, held, and sliced where quality is apparent by color, taste, temperature, touch, and texture. Food tasted for quality upon completion. Knowledge is demonstrated by knowing when a product is done.Handles telephone calls with courtesy. Takes accurate messages.Demonstrates ability to handle increased workload during periods of heavy workload. Willingness to take on additional tasks or assignments. Willingness to change work schedule. Willingness to put in additional time when requested.Qualifications
Education: Ability to read and write, follow oral and written instructions and do simple mathematics.
Experience: 3-5 years experience in institutional or restaurant cooking preferred but not required. Will receive additional on-the-job training as needed.
