Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Cook to help provide nutritious meals to our clients, supporting their journey toward health and recovery. In this role, you will contribute to a positive environment by preparing meals with care and attention, ensuring dietary needs are met, and maintaining the highest food safety standards. Your creativity, reliability, and initiative will help us fulfill our mission to change and save lives.

As a Cook, you will prepare meals on a large scale following established menus and USDA guidelines. You’ll also adapt to dietary restrictions, manage food preparation schedules, and collaborate with a supportive team to meet client needs.

Key Responsibilities:

· Prepare and serve meals according to established menus and nutritional guidelines.
· Maintain daily logs for refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher usage.
· Ensure food meets specified standards and document compliance for each meal.
· Coordinate meal preparation, including thawing and prepping ingredients.
· Minimize food waste by using leftovers within mandated timeframes.
· Clean equipment, dishes, and work areas, ensuring a clean and organized cafeteria.
· Communicate effectively with coworkers and other departments to meet client needs.
· Monitor supplies and report needs to the supervisor.
· Prepare food for special events as requested.
· Assist with clean-up during and after meals, storing leftovers properly.

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or GED required.
· Minimum of one year of employment history.
· Basic understanding of nutrition is beneficial.

Additional Qualifications:

· Must provide evidence of being free from infectious and contagious diseases (e.g., TB test) prior to employment and annually thereafter.
· Successful completion of a background check, including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint checks.
· Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.
· Successful completion of First Aid training and ServSafe Course.
· Hepatitis A vaccination required before handling food products (mandatory for St. Louis area staff).

Physical Requirements:

· Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull.
· Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing.
· Sedentary work with occasional walking or standing for brief periods.
