**Job Title: Cook**
**Job Description**
We are seeking a skilled and experienced cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing menu items according to recipes and specifications, maintaining high standards of food safety and quality, and fostering positive relationships with customers and staff.
**Responsibilities**
+ Prepare menu items including proteins, vegetables, fruits, starches, and sauces according to recipes and specifications.
+ Review recipes and consult with the unit’s designated culinarian to confirm production goals and service needs.
+ Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers while taking orders, plating, cooking, and serving.
+ Develop and maintain positive and professional working relationships with classified staff and subordinates.
+ Provide direction to Food Service Workers and student staff as needed.
+ Monitor prepared foods to ensure proper holding temperatures and handling in compliance with Washington State health code regulations, including required temperature log entries.
+ Disposition all food that has been on display or held in the kitchen according to Washington State Health Code and dining policies at the end of the shift.
+ Ensure that all items in walk-in and other storage areas are properly labeled.
+ Maintain records of foods produced and foods wasted.
+ Ensure that security and safety requirements are met; follow up with staff and supervisor on any issues.
+ Participate in cleaning the kitchen’s tables and equipment.
+ Review par levels at the end of the shift to ensure that the station is properly stocked for the next day and submit orders through CBord.
+ May perform additional data entry of daily production/waste records in CBord.
**Essential Skills**
+ Line cook experience
+ Food preparation skills
+ Cooking skills
+ Experience in food service and food prep
+ Ability to perform skilled cooking duties including preparation and service of assigned production schedule and recipes from the CBord Food Service System
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ One year of cooking experience or one year as a Food Service Worker.
+ Equivalent combinations of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

**Work Environment**
Schedules may change with two weeks’ notice. These positions are nine-month cyclic positions that will work full-time from mid-September to mid-June, with additional work potentially available in the summer based on business needs and seniority. Typical work hours are Monday to Thursday, from 10 am to 8:30 pm. Parking can be difficult and expensive, so candidates who take the bus are preferred.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, Washington.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.60
