This position is open to all interested persons aged 17 and above. This position is designated as At-Will. Essential Functions Prepares meals to order using commercial kitchen equipment. Prepares inventory and ordering to ensure kitchen is adequately stocked and expenses are properly managed. Develops new food and presentation ideas. Ensures the highest quality and consistency of food preparation and presentation and that all food safety regulations are followed. Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times and helps ensure the safety of fellow employees. Uses positive customer service skills to interact with clients and provide a high quality dining experience. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training One year of experience as a cook. Must be 18 and above to operate large cooking equipment such as fryolators, Hobart mixers and steam kettles. Knowledge of: broiler, flat grill, convection oven, six burner stove, meat slicer and all cooking utensils Ability to: be a diplomatic team player and leader fostering relationships with cliental; develop and manage staff to achieve individual and departmental goals; multi-task and react to a variety of situations quickly and calmly; interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner; display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of city employees, the general public and other organizations; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; complete assignments in a timely fashion; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance; and perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation. This position works: evenings, weekends and holidays 19-Hour Temporary All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits. 4-Month Temporary All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment. 8-Month Seasonal In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage. 9-Month Temporary In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
