TheCook Manageris responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the school kitchen, ensuring the preparation and service of nutritious meals in accordance with school policies, health and safety standards, and USDA guidelines. The Cook Manager supervises kitchen staff, ensures proper food handling and storage, and maintains a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Supervision & Leadership: + Supervise and lead kitchen staff in meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning. + Assign tasks to kitchen employees and ensure timely completion. + Train and evaluate kitchen staff, ensuring they follow all safety and health regulations. + Maintain a positive and productive work environment for the kitchen team + Assist in supervising and training food service workers and cooks. + Meal Preparation & Service: + Oversee the preparation and cooking of meals according to the menu, ensuring quality and presentation. + Ensure meals are prepared on time and served at the correct temperature. + Ensure compliance with meal portion sizes and food safety regulations. + Assist with meal service as necessary, ensuring students receive balanced and nutritious meals. + Inventory & Ordering: + Monitor kitchen inventory levels and ensure food supplies are adequate for meal preparation. + Work with food suppliers and submit orders to ensure timely delivery of necessary items. + Maintain inventory records and report any shortages or issues to the Food Services Director. + + Health & Safety Compliance: + Ensure kitchen cleanliness and sanitation, adhering to local health department regulations. + Monitor kitchen staff to ensure compliance with food safety practices, including safe food handling, storage, and disposal. + Oversee daily cleaning duties and ensure all equipment is in proper working order. + Ensure that kitchen staff use protective equipment as necessary (e.g., gloves, aprons). + Administrative Tasks: + Maintain accurate records of meals prepared, meal counts, and inventory usage. + Assist with menu planning as needed, ensuring meals meet dietary guidelines and student preferences. + Ensure compliance with state and federal nutrition requirements. Qualifications: + Education & Experience: + High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree or relevant certification preferred. + Minimum of 2 years of experience in food service, including supervisory experience. + Experience in a school or institutional food service setting preferred. + Skills & Abilities: + Strong leadership and team management skills. + Knowledge of food safety regulations and nutrition guidelines. + Excellent communication and organizational skills. + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. + Proficient in inventory management and ordering procedures. + Ability to maintain a clean and organized kitchen. Salary Description 20.00-22.00 per hour
