Responsibilities Prepares and cooks a variety of foods and desserts according to menu requirements with or without the assistance of another cook/supervisor; Takes food from prep area to refrigerators or serving area; Monitor inventory and rotating food inventories. Follows recipes to prepare food items and adjusts recipes for larger or smaller quantities and portions out food for family style and plate service; Prepares vegetables and cold food dishes; Make a variety of salads, salad dressings, sandwiches. Roasts a variety of meats such as beef, pork, veal, lamb, fish, and poultry; Grills and deep fries foods; Broils and steams foods; Slices meat by hand and by mechanical means, to specific requirements. Follows health and safety precautions to ensure safe preparation and storage of food items; Operates kitchen equipment designed to mix and cook food items; Uses, cleans and maintains power kitchen equipment. Monitors and maintains appropriate temperature of all food items throughout preparation and service; Keeps working area and cooking utensils cleaned and ready for use in accordance with standard sanitation requirements; Maintains personal hygiene. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications 1. A minimum of 6 months of work experience directly related to the duties described above, that included skill in working with professional kitchen appliances and equipment. 2. Be able to communicate (verbal and written) in English. NOTE: The above minimum qualifications must be described within the duties of previous work experience listed on the applicant's resume and assessment/questionnaire. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. incentive or bonus in the amount of $1,000.00 is authorized. Selectees from this vacancy are eligible to recieve after 6 months of continuous employment, with an average of 20 hours per week worked. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
