The ideal candidate for this position has previous experience preparing cafeteria style meals and enjoys working in a busy cafeteria environment and is capable of taking direction well and multi-tasking effectively. Cafeteria Cooks prepare and cook large quantities of food for institutions, such as schools, hospitals, or cafeterias. They also monitor and record food temperatures to ensure food safety.
Other tasks include:
· Cook foods according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served.
· Rotate and store food supplies.
· Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, or other cooking equipment.
· Apportion and serve food to facility patients, and employees.
· Clean and inspect galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional education or training in the culinary field preferred. Two or more years’ experience in food service role in preparing food for institutions, such as school, hospital or cafeteria preferred.LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
ServSafe Certification or similar food safety certification, where required by the state, facility.
