Cook Supervisor
Job Introduction

As Cook Supervisor for Sodexo at The Kingfisher CE Academy School, The Deanery Academy, Swindon, SN1 7DA, you will prepare meals using School Food United and recipes form DRIVE following the Allergen Management Process and create/review Allergen records as required. Maintain a high standard of service and hygiene. Engage with Food Service Assistant and lead the kitchen with daily supervision and delegation of required tasks.

What you do:

To comply with all the legal and hygiene requirements.  To prepare and present food to the company’s standards, utilising recipes from the central system and to have full knowledge of all allergen information prior to service.  Place Orders using Online Portals  Commence a Weekly Stock Take  To ensure that the Companies administration procedures are carried out to the laid down standard and that the necessary weekly returns are completed accurately and sent to the appointed office on time.   To receive any training as is necessary to maintain the standards in the establishment.  To undertake all aspects in the cleaning of equipment – walls (up to 6ft), floors, fixtures and fittings, to the companies’ standard according to the cleaning rota as required and directed.  To ensure work areas and equipment are left clean.  To assist in loading service counters, as and when directed, and to ensure enough supplies throughout the service period, paying attention to the minimum style guide standards and implementation of all current marketing offers and promotions.  Highly advisable to join the CLOSED Dishin’ it out Facebook page to view and share best practice.  To accept deliveries, recording necessary temperatures and putting away as set out by Safegard and your line manager.   To ensure a high standard of personal and general cleanliness and hygiene to comply with statutory and company regulations.  To assist, from time to time, at special functions, some of which may occasionally occur outside working hours.  To report immediately any incidents of fire, theft, loss, damage, unfit food, or other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate or possible.  To relieve in other local units from time to time during sickness  To report any customer complaints and act, if possible.  To attend any reasonable requests made by the Manager.

What you bring:

Must have expertise on cooking on a large scale, anywhere between 100 – 1300 students. Have experience following recipes, possibly in a similar setting. Have previous staff supervision experience or line management experience. Have experience working with fresh produce and ingredients. Be aware of the importance of adhering to health and safety procedures. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a busy Kitchen environment. Be professional, leading by example and having a positive outlook is key. Hold basic food handling skills certification: NVQ Level 2 Level 2 Food safety Certificate A minimum of 1 years of experience in hands on cooking, training on Food Hygiene, and Health & Safety will be given.
