SUMMARY
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for preparing payroll and serving as an expert for payroll-related questions that may be received from approximately 18,000 team members nationwide. Additionally, this position assists in the process to compute, audit, and issue payroll checks in 49 states, while serving as a payroll-expert for all areas assigned at JOANN. The Payroll Coordinator will also be responsible for issuing off-cycle checks and ensuring compliance within the assigned area.
JOB DUTIES
Processes off-cycle manual payroll checks for pay upon termination states and pay discrepancies.Serves as the Payroll expert for their assigned area.Audits payroll data prior to processing to ensure that all company policies and payroll guidelines are followed. Follows up with appropriate personnel if issues are found.Assists Team Members with questions regarding their pay and research/resolves any issues that may arise.As new earnings codes and sick plans are available, assists in testing timekeeping data to ensure system changes are working as designed. Troubleshoots payroll system issues as they arise with Payroll Manager.Assists in the completion of internal and external payroll-related audits of JOANN.Runs reports for operational reporting as needed.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent
Education Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Business, HR, Accounting or related field and/or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
Experience Minimum: 2-4 years of experience in a corporate multi-state payroll environment (or similar work in finance or accounting)
Experience Preferred: Workday payroll experience preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
This role requires in-person attendance 4 days a week at the Store Support Center (SSC) located in Hudson, OH. Flexibility to work remotely when requested is determined by management and business needs.May need to work irregular hours due to payroll processing and business needs.Sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods while maintaining focus and productivity.Move around an office space and between buildings on a large campus, including reaching for files, retail product, supplies, or equipment, as well as the ability to adapt to various workstation setups.Work standard business hours and extended hours as needed based on task and project demands.Utilization of all communication styles - written, verbal, electronic options.Lift and carry office supplies, documents, retail product or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds as needed for tasks such as organizing or setting up workstations.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
