Accepts 24 hour accountability for patient care delivery, clinical resources management, and departmental clinical standards. This position provides direct patient care and may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law. Our five hospitals and eleven clinics provide excellence in our comprehensive services, medical advancement, and overall patient outcomes. **Responsibilities** + Oversees the mentoring or preceptor process. + Oversees all clinical issues and personnel matters as relevant. + Develops the implementation of protocols or other standards as needed. + Recruits and retains staff. + Educates external customers. + Evaluates equipment. + Assists with work in clinical areas. + May perform other duties, as assigned. **Knowledge / Skills / Abilities** + Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above. + Ability to provide care to the population served. + Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual. + Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills. + Ability to educate patients and staff. + Ability to provide safe, effective pulmonary care. + Demonstrated ability to function as a clinical and an administrative role model. **Qualifications** **Qualifications** **Required** + Specific Education and Experience requirements are directly affected by location of hire: **Education Required** + Pulmonary Rehab and Function Testing: Bachelor’s degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency. + Blood Gas Lab: Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or medical laboratory science/technology. Non-conforming degrees may still qualify if transcripts show successful completion of 12 semester hours of chemistry, 12 semester hours of biology, and additional 24 semester hours of any combination chemistry and biology. **Experience Required** + Pulmonary Rehab and Function Testing: Three (3) years of experience in pulmonary care. + Blood Gas Lab: Three (3) years of experience in moderate or high complexity lab testing. **Licenses Required** + Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
