Department InformationThe Department of Resident Life serves a highly diverse population of approximately 12500 undergraduate students living in traditional residence halls apartments and suites including some publicprivate partnership apartment communities About 46 of all resident students are enrolled in twelve living learning programs covering a wide array of academic areas Resident Life employs a diverse workforce of 88 full time and graduate staff members and about 600 undergraduate student staff members The Department values respectful equitable and inclusive practices and actively seeks candidates who can represent and serve the diversity of persons who live and work in the University of Marylands residence halls The University of Maryland campus is located in the greater Washington DC metro area just eight miles from downtown DC and 30 miles from Baltimore MD Additional information about the Department of Resident Life is available at wwwreslifeumdeduGeneral Description of DutiesAs a member of the Department of Resident Life Residential Engagement Programs REP team in the Engagement Services and Programs unit the Coordinator for Student Leadership amp Engagement oversees and provides leadership for the planning and provision of all centralized department programs and support in the areas of student leadership education and development The Coordinator serves as the primary advisor for the Residence Hall Association RHA and the National Residence Hall Honorary NRHH regularly meeting with executive boards senates and general bodies including weekly evening meetings The Coordinator also serves as a liaison to the fifteen Resident Directors who are HallArea Council advisors providing ongoing training and support Additionally the Coordinator maintains a working knowledge of and contributes to all functions of the REP team including major programs such as Fall Welcome and the Resident Life Community Development Strategy The Coordinator carries out their duties in an environment characterized by a diverse staff and student population and activ
