Occupational Category Professional Department Budget Division Division of Finance and Operations Open Date 12/19/2024 Open Until Filled Yes Educational and Experience Requirement Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. One year of related experience in budgeting processes and procedures. Nature & Purpose of Position Performs semi-complex administrative program work. Coordinates meetings, budget related trainings, and the daily operational budgeting transactions with efficiency and accuracy. Supports the Central Budget Office’s Associate Director by preparing reports for the Annual Operating Budget and other institutional and state mandated reports. Primary Responsibilities Coordinates timely processing of the Budget email inbox and change of budget application. Provides accurate, timely entry of budgetary transactions, including but not limited to journal vouchers, position control changes and document management, to ensure funding is available for University operations. Assists in preparation of the Annual Operating Budget by creating reports and updating the budget system, running queries, preparing spreadsheets and other documentation. Coordinates meetings and budget training to include, but not limited to, room reservations, scheduling, taking notes and attendance, surveys, and follow-up. Prepares various special, quarterly, monthly, and ad hoc reports. Interprets and explains University policies and procedures related to institutional and department budgets. Oversees a variety of special projects. Performs other related duties as assigned. Other Specifications Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and standard operating procedures. Organizational skills in managing projects and daily tasks simultaneously while maintaining a satisfactory work product. Ability to set priorities and complete assignments and daily tasks on time. Position requires skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, database, and word processing software, with accuracy and confidentiality in all phases of work. Ability to learn office and university-specific software. Knowledge of basic budgeting principles and accounting methods. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn University policies and procedures. Ability to explain budget related policies and procedures to staff and the public. Skill in providing excellent customer service. Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with University staff, students, and the general public.
