Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Coordinator of Fitness & Wellness. - Boca Raton, FL.
Reporting through the Department of Campus Recreation, the Coordinator of Fitness is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a comprehensive fitness and wellness program. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness, the Coordinator of Fitness administers, organizes, and promotes a Fitness program serving 3,000+ participants each year.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Fitness Programming:
Oversee the administration and oversight of all fitness and wellness programs, including but not limited to: Personal Training, Group Fitness, Small Group Training, Instructional Programs and Special Events.Manage administrative duties related to personal training, fitness consultations, specialty courses, group exercise, small group training and other program offerings.Plan and implement specialized fitness offerings, including outreach events, incentive programs, educational tabling and collaborative events.Develop and publish group fitness class schedules and format descriptions to align with current trends and the diverse interests of the FAU community; including development of modified schedules for holidays, finals and intersessions.Track and analyze group fitness class counts, completed personal training sessions, personal training mentor/mentee hours, program goals/data, and assign personal training clients.Teach both nationally accredited, and in-house developed training courses to prepare students to become a Personal Trainer and/or Group Fitness Instructor. (May include the ability to teach specialty formats such as cycling, boxing, barre/Pilates, yoga, Zumba etc.)Staff Development and Supervision:
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate approximately 2 Fitness Managers, 15 Certified Personal Trainers and 30 Certified Group Fitness Instructors.Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff contact lists, and assist with coordination of group fitness subs as needed.Organize and lead fitness staff trainings, and maintain regular communication with staff regarding departmental updates, special events, scheduling, etc.Evaluate the performance of fitness employees on a semester basis and provide written and verbal feedback upon completion.Provide staff with ongoing mentorship through regular check-ins and one-on-one meetings.Facility Operations and Risk Management:
Track fitness equipment inventory and project equipment replacement needs on an annual basis.Provide support and input with regard to custodial services and/or equipment maintenance via work order requests.Ensure staff are informed of current safety and risk management procedures in departmental Emergency Action Plan; review with staff on an annual basis.Assessment:
Assist with development, implementation, and review of surveys for programs and events.Assist with development of departmental strategic plan and annual assessment materials.Assist with preparing monthly and annual reports related to Key Performance Indicators.Miscellaneous:
Assist with preparation of the department’s budget through fitness staffing and expense projections.Assist with marketing efforts for fitness programming as needed.Attend meetings with other Campus Recreation stakeholders, including but not limited to: Owls Care Health Promotion, Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Health Services, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Government, Athletics, and others.Maintain and expand relationships with Academic Departments of Exercise Science, Colleges of Social Work, Nursing, Medicine, and others.Other duties as assigned.FAU Benefits and Perks
