Coordinator Patient Transportation I Patient Transportation I Evening I Full Time
Overview Under the direction of Patient Transport Management, the Patient Transportation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating daily activities for transport staff to ensure transportation and courier request services are provided. The Patient Transportation Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and for the safety of the patient, medical equipment and patient-related items to their destinations. Enabling physicians, nurses, technicians, and therapists to perform their duties in an effective manner. Ensures positive patient customer satisfaction, proper utilization of body mechanics, adherence to policies, procedures and standards established by Shand�s, and departmental management. Also responsible for dispatching, transporting patients in wheelchairs, beds, or stretchers to patient care areas, ancillary areas, Lift Tech assistance, various outpatient clinics, and for discharge from the hospital. Work is performed under minimal supervision and is completed independently, as a management partner. The Patient Transportation Coordinator will also perform environmental services functions and light maintenance as required and additional duties related to the Support Services operations as needed. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: � Associate must be proficient in Word, Excel, and Power Point with the ability to learn and understand Company systems in support of transportation operations. � Excellent communication skills including interpersonal, written and proper grammar skills. � The ability to multi-task and prioritize properly between guest requests, vendors, administrative tasks, service and leadership needs. � Strong passion for customer service. � A high level of critical thinking skills. � High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. � Preferred dispatcher, transport or hospital experience. High school or equivalent. Must have good public relation skills. Ability to rapidly change daily schedule to meet the needs of the operation. Knowledge of wheelchair and stretcher transport preferred. Basic computer skills: applications such as Word, Access and Excel preferred. Two year degree or three to five years� experience transporting patients preferred. Must pass level 2 background screening. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
