Coordinator Surgery Scheduling - Outpatient Surgery - Maywood
**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Day Shift **Description:** The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator's primary responsibility is to coordinate the reliable and efficient scheduling of all surgical procedures performed in the operating rooms of Loyola University medical Center (LUMC). On a daily basis, this individual will work with a multidisciplinary team of providers and clinicians to promote timely and adequate patient access to the OR's Master Daily Schedule while ensuring efficient, fair, and equitable utilization of key department resources (e.g. OR capacity, medical equipment, Anesthesia/ Nursing personnel, etc.) Additionally, the Surgery Scheduling Coordinator will demonstrate LUMC's Magis Values and Service Excellence Standards, specifically through the cultivation of trustworthy relationships with Surgeon's and their supporting departments. Obtains necessary insurance authorization using knowledge of ICD - 10 and CPT coding. **Position Summary:** The surgical scheduler's primary responsibility is to coordinate all surgical case activities within the Department of Surgery. Since the primary duty includes procedure scheduling, a high emphasis is placed on knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding. **Position Responsibilities:** + Generate daily, weekly and quarterly surgical schedule to ensure appropriate use of available block time with the Medical Director to account for operating room usage. + Engage in efficient communication with all members of the health care team, the patient and family in order to coordinate the surgical experience in the inpatient OR, ASC, LASCO and Gottlieb. Accept patient inquiries or refer them to the appropriate party to make their surgicalexperience less stressful. Acquisition, compilation and coordination of surgical scheduling with physicians according to operating room block time, ensuring cases are scheduled into rooms appropriate for the procedure for maximum effectiveness, as well as coordinating with otherMD offices for combined OR cases. Scheduling of patient pre-admission testing and pre-operative appointments as necessary + Maintain appropriate records in Epic Optime relevant to the physician and clinic in order to ensure all cases are scheduled into their appropriate block time allowing accurate service quota. Notifying the physician and team of of any changes in the daily surgery schedule + Performs work of a clerical nature as assigned - cross trains to the patient access telephone line and the Surgery front desk. + Update and confirm insurance information and status. Obtains appropriate consents and forms necessary from agencies: DCFS, DCS, insurance companies and workmans compensation.
