Overview Victim Support Service Coordinator Trauma Recovery Center of Rising Ground Community-Based Services The Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) of Rising Ground understands the importance of removing barriers to care and providing trauma-informed services. Through this dedication, the TRC aims to transform services for survivors of violent crime. Rising Ground’s TRC is designed to help victims of violent crimes overcome barriers to accessing mental health treatment, health care, and legal resources in the acute aftermath of trauma. The TRC supports recent victims of violent crime, including survivors of physical assault, sexual assault, gun shot wounds, stabbings, domestic violence and human trafficking. The Trauma Recovery Center facilitates healing for survivors of trauma, violence, and loss through an innovative model that blends comprehensive care, advocacy and outreach. The Victim Support Service Coordinator of the Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) will answer all requests and referrals for TRC services. The Victim Support Service Coordinator will complete and process all new referrals and input referrals into the database. The Victim Support Service Coordinator will also be responsible for providing information about community resources (i.e. counseling, legal, services, food pantries, educational/vocational programs, children’s activities, etc.) to individuals requesting information and will maintain an up-to-date list of these resources. Additionally, the Victim Support Service Coordinator will screen all clients for the Office of Victims’ Services compensation program, as well as process and submit these applications. Additionally the Victim Support Service Coordinator will maintain a caseload of 10-15 clients seeking advocacy services. The Victim Support Service Coordinator will also share TRC program information to various community partners to increase accessibility to trauma survivors within the community. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for social justice and anti-oppressive practice, ample experience providing advocacy services to various demographics of people, and a desire to work collaboratively with a team of creative and committed advocates. Experience working with survivors of trauma is preferred. All candidates must have a strong understanding of trauma-based work. The Victim Support Service Coordinator will work under the supervision of the TRC Director. All candidates must have a strong understanding of trauma-based work and have experience providing crisis intervention and emotional support to trauma survivors. The ideal candidate recognizes that “the most harmed are the least helped,” understands the importance of removing barriers to care, and has a passion to increase accessibility of services to survivors of violent crimes. This position is located in our downtown Brooklyn location with a hybrid schedule of 3 office days, and 2 days remote. To meet program needs, all staff in the TRC will conduct home visits and accompaniment/advocacy in the community, as needed. Must be flexible to work outside of specified hours to meet client demand.
