CORE Examination Director (Remote Optional)

Position Overview:

The SF CORE Examination Director will lead multiple CORE (Counterparty Operational Risk Evaluation) exam teams within Single Family executing exams on multiple types of third parties. The Director will have oversight into collaboration with all internal risk owners across the enterprise to ensure updates and alignment of review objectives and exam scope. The responsibilities will include:

Oversee execution of annual plan.Review and approval for all exam scopes and final reports ensuring accurate documentation for overall control effectiveness and issue identification.Oversight of Liaison communication and relationships.Documentation of results for communication to Third Party Governance Forum.Oversee results and necessary actions for Procedure Standards Reviews of exam teams.Review and comment on monthly reporting metrics.

Our Impact:

The Single-Family Third-Party Risk team is responsible for managing all risk aspects associated with various Third Parties we engage with while supporting Freddie Mac’s primary mission. The Third Parties include Seller Servicers, Mortgage Insurers, Reinsurers, Document Custodians, Suppliers and more. Our team works with business partners across the enterprise to ensure we can identify, quantify, mitigate and communicate the risk associated with our Third Parties. The Third-Party team ensures there is single point accountability to manage all risk types and communicate optimally across the organization.

COREs overall results will feed into the Third Party Risk program.

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalentTypically has 12+years of related experience and 4+ years of management experience.10+ years of experience in operational risk management at a large financial services institution(s)10+ years of audit, quality management examination or bank examination experienceDeep knowledge and subject matter expertise of the seller servicer operational risk oversight processUnderstanding of counterparty operational risk management practices at large financial services institutionsUnderstanding of regulatory requirements and expectations related to operational risk of seller servicers (e.g., FHFA)Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholdersAbility to empower and encourage action through interpersonal skillsProactive leadership and partnership capabilitiesStrong written and oral communication skillsStrong business acumen and problem-solving abilityThorough and strong organizational skillsManagement consulting experience a plusKeys to Success in this Role:Highly motivated and positive self-starter with strong people skills and the ability to multi-taskExcellent analytical skills and understanding of risk managementHighly organized, detailed oriented and able to successfully manage several projects at onceWillingness to learn and ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and requirementsConfident speaker that is comfortable facilitating discussions with all levels of staff, including executivesStrong analytical skills and the desire to identify and implement process improvements to build efficiencies and improve our team’s effectivenessStrong collaboration skills and desire to be part of a robust team

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $184,000 - $276,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
