Core Lab Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Job Summary Reports to a Laboratory Manager or Supervisor. Receives general supervision from Pathologists, Director, and CLS7-8. Receives supervision in computer activities from the Specialist, Lab Information Systems. Evaluate new methodologies, reagents, and instrumentation as required. Act as a technical resource for staff and provide leadership regarding new developments in the field. Serve as a planning resource to the Supervisor and the Department. May direct and assume the responsibility for the activities of assigned technical staff. With the Section Supervisor, review section productivity and establish goals Maintain and review preventive maintenance records for equipment in section. Assist with maintaining current training checklists, provide adequate orientation for staff, assess new training needs, and plan & implement continuing education programs for the section at the direction of the Supervisor. Direct the purchasing of all supplies and reagents for a part of or the entire laboratory section. Monitor cost of supplies against the budget allocations. Qualifications Education Associate's degree with MLT (ASCP/AMT), HT (ASCP/AMT), or the equivalent in education and clinical lab experience OR a Bachelor’s degree from a four (4) year MT or HTL program approved a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent or eligible. Experience 3 years experience as MT/MLS/CLS/HTL; or 5 years as MLT/HT (Above requirements can be met by equivalent combination of education and experience) Licensure/Certification Must meet the minimum requirements of the Clinical Laboratory Act of 1988. " Registered or eligible for registry as MLT or HT, or MT (ASCP/AMT) or equivalent.
