Core Team Engineer - Wiper / Washer Systems

The Core Team Engineer (CTE) for Wiping/Washing systems is the regional expert in the systems, defining strategy for the technology road map, modular policy, supplier strategy (including new supplier assessments, sourcing, and technical assessments), and is responsible for ensuring the systems comply with quality, performance, timing, and cost objectives in accordance with Program Development targets. The CTE gathers lessons learned and ensures the lessons and actions are incorporated into core documents and best practices. The CTE role serves as the regional single point of contact for wiping and washing systems, providing specifications, technical support, and coaching to Design and Release Engineers (DREs). 

Key Responsibilities: 

Ensure systems comply with quality, performance, timing, and cost objectives.  Work with advanced team to develop, define, and package system designs prior to sourcing.  Serve as the regional single point of contact for these systems in Mechatronics.  Provide input, specifications, technical support, and coaching to Design and Release Engineers (DREs).  Define the strategic roadmap for advanced programs.  Meet the Voice of Customer (VOC) and translate customer requirements into technical specifications.  Lead homologation discussions and establish or update new design guidelines.  Ensure compliance with technical requirements and support the global Mechatronics network.  Develop technical specifications and testing methods to overcome lessons learned and implement best practices from previous programs.  Develop and maintain core boundary diagrams, interface matrices, parameter diagrams, Design for Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), and Design Validation Plan and Report (DVP&R).  Support system integration and proper function with surrounding components, network communications, and Electronic Control Units (ECUs).  Perform benchmarking, competitive analysis, and investigations on new sensor technology.  Meet with current and prospective supply base to understand new technologies and innovations.  Support quality and warranty initiatives with technical specifications and evaluations.  Ensure part variation and failure modes are addressed in an expedited way to improve customer satisfaction.  Support business case studies and develop innovative ways of meeting required functional objectives and technical specifications with reduced investment.  Work with Purchasing to develop strategic sourcing plans with current and future suppliers.  Specify technical requirements for advanced programs and evaluate suppliers' technical capabilities during the sourcing process.  Perform technical evaluations during the Request for Quote (RFQ) process. 

Basic Qualifications 

Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related degree field.  5+ years of engineering experience in the automotive industry.  Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work autonomously, excellent communication skills, positive attitude, willingness to learn, flexibility, team-player, and attention to detail.  Mechatronic component design and release experience.  Understanding of components and physical integration in vehicle.  Understanding of blow molding and injection molding processes and design requirements.  Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)  Experience with global project management and leading cross-functional teams.  Proficiency in advanced CAD software such as NX, CATIA or SolidWorks.  Experience designing and operating electrical test benches for software integration.  Demonstrated experience with network communications: Class2, CAN, LIN, or Ethernet.  Demonstrated experience with calibration and diagnostic tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, INCA, Witech, or CDA.  Experience designing and writing vehicle specifications such as Performance Specifications (PFs), Vehicle Function Specifications (VFs), Plant Process Standards (PS), Engineering Design Practices (EDPs), and component diagnostics requirements.  Demonstrated experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Reactive Problem-Solving Tools.  Possess working knowledge of Stellantis systems.  EOE / Disability / Veteran
