Posting Details Position Information Job Title Corey Union Summer 2025 Event Director Department Campus Activities and Corey Union Job Description/Duties Administrative: The Event Director assumes the administrative duties and responsibilities of the Union Administrator while on duty. This includes the function and operation of the building during the hours they are assigned.
In addition to their duties as Union Administrator, the Summer Event Director will directly support summer programs, including but not limited to the NYS Envirothon, New and Transfer Student Orientations, Alumni Weekend, and other events, campus-sponsored or otherwise.
General responsibilities:
A. Opening and closing of the building.
B. To secure the building while on duty.
C. Support events within Corey Union or additional locations as necessary.
Specific responsibilities:
A. Perform hourly checks of the building, ensuring proper lighting in all areas and that authorized exit doors are unlocked. These checks are to be accompanied by hourly Round Reports.
B. Ensure all offices and service rooms are kept locked at all times.
C. Check of I.D.’s when the situation requires.
D. Know the usual locations of all furnishings and equipment. If necessary, report anything missing or damaged to the University Police.
E. Speak to anyone who may intentionally or inadvertently abuse equipment or furniture. Contact University Police if necessary.
F. If the situation merits, the Student Director is authorized to lock or evacuate any building area.
G. When alcohol is served, check that SUNY Alcohol Policies have been followed.
H. Inventory the exhibits in the Exhibition Lounge and artwork throughout the building.
I. Be alert for safety hazards. Check first aid kits periodically. Be familiar with fire/evacuation procedures.
J. Complete the Student Director Report indicating problems, quantities of people using the building, etc.
K. Secure the building before leaving, investigating any unauthorized people remaining there after closing.
L. At the close of the night, call University Police indicating that you are leaving. Give names and ID numbers of all authorized people remaining in the building after closing.
Service and duties:
A. Upon arrival, check all set-ups/room arrangements to see that everything requested is ready or available.
B. Open facilities for an organization’s use just before the time requested.
C. Check with the event/meeting organizer to see that everything is in order and if anything is needed. Remind the organization of their responsibilities (for example – clean up).
D. When audio/visual equipment is required, be sure equipment is available and proper forms are filled out. At the close of the program, make sure all equipment is returned.
E. During periodic building checks, inspect all bulletin boards. Remove any unauthorized signs, posters, or outdated materials. Also, remove anything taped to walls, wood, or glass.
F. Act as unofficial host to any guests of the College and assist visiting artists until an organization representative can be found, etc.
G. If needed, after an event has concluded, be sure maintenance personnel have provided the organization’s contact with any materials necessary for clean-up.
H. When touring the building, maintain furniture arrangements. Pick up any unsightly paper, etc., and be aware of hazards.
I. Always be courteous to people using the Union and provide them with the appropriate assistance.
J. Attend all training sessions and meetings as required. Days/Hours Needed Event shifts are assigned per event schedules.

Renovation Prep: June TBD
New/Transfer Student Orientations: July 1-24, 2025
Alumni Weekend: July 17-20, 2025

Must be a highly motivated self-starter who has and can maintain a 2.6 overall GPA while working in the position. Ability to work with diverse groups. Preferred Qualifications Knowledgeable in audio/visual technology (Sound Systems, Computers, Projectors, etc.) Physical Demands Some lifting and carrying of various audio-visual and other equipment.
