Corporate Accountant
**Summary** The Corporate Accountant position readies, processes and maintains financial and business transactions, applying accounting principles, that include work that is analytical, evaluative, and advisory in nature and that requires an understanding of both accounting theory and practice. **Essential Job Duties** + Generates and posts monthly journal entries into the general ledger documenting business transactions. + Reconciles accounts, including bank accounts, accounts receivable and accounts payable. + Monitors and updates the standard cost system to ensure costs are accurately recorded in the company's ERP system. + Calculates material standards, labor and overhead rates and expense variances based upon budget and other supporting documentation, analyzing and reporting on monthly variances. + Files and pays sales and use taxes. + Processes payables and expense reports for payment in a timely manner, reviewing supporting documents for accuracy. + Communicates with vendors regarding vendor statements, payment status and resolve AP discrepancies with vendors and the purchasing teams. + Identifies taxable vs. non-taxable purchases from vendors and provide sales tax exemptions where appropriate. + Ensures the adequacy of the accounting system as the basis for reporting to management. + Projects accounting data to show the effects of proposed plans on capital investments, income, cash position, and overall financial condition. + Interprets the meaning of accounting records, reports, and statements. + Advises operating officials on accounting matters. + Recommends improvements, adaptations, or revisions in the accounting system and procedures. + Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. + Analyzes balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. + Manages the fixed asset listing and ensure it reconciles to the general ledger. + Calculates monthly commission payments. + Other duties as assigned. **Required Qualifications** - Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.) + This position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business or equivalent experience. + Must have minimum of three years related experience in general accounting functions. + Two years of fixed asset experience is preferred. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -** May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills and abilities commonly associated with this position. + Proficient in Microsoft Office products - specifically Excel, and Outlook. + Proficient with general accounting software. + Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. + Critical thinker with exceptional attention to detail. + Excellent problem-solving skills. + Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing. + Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously. + Ability to develop and maintain business relationships. **Work Environment** - Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. + General office conditions.
