Corporate Benefits Manager

General Description: The Corporate Benefits Manager maintains the integrity of the USI benefits program. As the subject matter expert, the Benefits Manager answers escalated questions, researches and resolves issues, and interfaces with external vendor partners. This role requires deep understanding of benefits administration, compliance, and employee engagement.
Responsibilities:Manage the day-to-day activities of USI’s internal benefits team. Manage direct reports. Provide escalated support to benefit team and internal client groups on all programs. Research complex issues with carrier partners where necessary.Project manage USI’s annual Open Enrollment. Create project plan and oversee development of all communications. Support HRIS team in updating enrollment system and building carrier files.Lead post-enrollment activities to ensure employee elections and deductions are accurate.Analyze benefits data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement. Manage relationships with carrier partners to ensure excellence in employee experience. Develop and deliver employee-facing communications. Maintain benefit intranet site and share regular updates in USI Informs, USI’s weekly employee newsletter. Execute required company compliance filings. Lead annual 401(k) audit. Audit the accuracy and performance of functions performed by benefits staff.Complete complex analysis of data to determine eligibility for USI or state-specific programs.Lead due diligence and transition of coverage for onboarding employees following acquisitions. Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.Ensure all benefits follow federal, state, and local regulations. Stay updated on changes.Collaborate with colleagues from HRIS, Compensation, Payroll, Communications, and Legal.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:5-7 years progressive benefits experience with large, self-funded plans required. Bachelor’s degree required. Human Resources or benefits-certification(s) preferred. Advanced technical understanding of employee benefit concepts, design, and governing regulations.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required. Strong Word and PowerPoint skills. Strong work ethic and ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent client service skills and the ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization. Experience/understanding and appreciation of broader Human Resources issues.Highly motivated, detail-focused, and committed to maintaining the integrity of the USI benefits program.
Physical Demands:Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal noise and limited to no exposure to chemicals or toxins. Employees operate office equipment including telephone - headset, computer, computer monitors, keyboard, mouse, copier, scanner and mail machine. Physical tasks of job include walking, sitting, standing, bending, and typing.
Analysis of Physical Demands:Constantly (over 66% of time) work performed requires employees to use repetitive hand motions such as typing, using a keyboard, and sitting at a desk.Frequently (34%-66% of time) work performed requires employees to handle and grasp things, walk on normal surfaces, stand, and bend.
