The ideal candidate should have a strong background in industrial safety, excellent communication skills and the ability to design and deliver effective training programs. Essential Duties Training – Instruction of short-term training courses at business locations throughout Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Robertson, and Washington Counties and/or other Blinn College campuses. Analyze, evaluate, and assess training needs of specific business Develop and implement safety training courses in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements Evaluate trainees’ progress and provide feedback to improve their skills Update materials as dictated by changes in regulations and/or programs Course development – Develop and implement training for new to tenured employees Create, modify and customize basic course material/content to fit specific business needs Develop training content according to the current industry rules and regulations, apply the adequate training procedures and standards, and acknowledge any new procedures, rules & regulations Assist in the development of safety protocols for the business Assess the skills and knowledge of trainees and create customized training plans accordingly Coordinate with management to identify company training needs Administration – Complete and maintain administrative records. Maintain training records and evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions Track and submit trainee attendance records Enter course completion records into Blinn’s academic database (Banner) Collaborate with Corporate College administrative team to schedule training sessions Provide certification cards Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be an OSHA 10 & 30 certified instructor (preferably general industry) 3+ years’ experience in the manufacturing, construction, or mining industry – safety, quality and/or processes Experience providing formal or informal safety related training to adult learners either in a classroom or on-the-job training setting Have excellent communication skills, with the interpersonal skills to interact and influence at all levels; passionate about developing people Ability to travel to conduct training throughout the Blinn College District Flexible schedule/availability Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education or training in a relevant field is preferred Preferred Experience and Training 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing industry 2+ years’ supervisory experience 2+ years’ safety supervisory experience Experience in the mining industry Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint)
The ideal candidate will be able to conduct a majority of the following safety course offered through Blinn’s Corporate College Department:- OSHA-10 and OSHA-30 – Lockout/Tagout- Fall protection with safety – Fall protection with rigging- Ergonomics – Confined space entry/permit- Industrial Emergency Response – Manufacturing safety- Safety Incident Investigation – Combustible dust hazards- Safety health management – Load securement/DOT - Process safety management/HAZCOM – Safety behavior Physical Requirements Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while instructing Must possess the manual dexterity, flexibility and visual acuity to perform inspection functions requiring walking, climbing, squatting, lifting, bending, twisting Must be able to lift 35+ pounds Must be able to reliable transportation to drive to business locations in Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Robertson, and Washington Counties Required Degree, License or Certifications Current OSHA-10 and OSHA-30 instructor certification Proof of any other held safety related licenses and/or certifications High School Diploma or GED Special Notes To Applicants This position is on an as needed basis. The training schedule is based on grant funding and closed contract availability. Courses are intermittent and are conducted based on the request and schedule of business partners matched with a trainer that is capable and available to teach a specific course.
