Your role and responsibilitiesCommunications is a crucial function to our success. As Country Communication Manager you are responsible for key internal communications activities, management of business media and crisis management, partners with business managers as well as ensuring positive branding of ABB in the country.ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Media and PR – Working with country business leaders, devise and activate a communications plan that positions ABB. Proactively engage with and act as a spokesperson for country Tier 1 and financial media and support key leaders with media guidance and speaking opportunities. Distribute global PR messages locally. Plan, support, prepare and manage responses to positive and negative inquiries from external sources – including crisis and issue-related media and social media escalations and responses.Issues management and crisis communications- Serve on the country crisis task force. Offer guidance regarding crises and issues in line with ABB’s operational model. Ensure all internal issues and crises are handled with a minimum negative impact on the organization and the ABB brand.Government relations - Support local businesses as needed to engage with government and public affairs organizations that contribute to the business strategies in the country. Internal communications – Responsible for mandatory employee communications and supporting the cascading of selective ABB Corporate content in collaboration with local businesses and corporate functions including legal and integrity, HSSE, HR, Security, etc. Management and governance of the country's internal communication channels such as Viva Engage and intranet.Digital communications and social media – Strategy, management and governance of country social channels and websites.Branding - Safeguard brand identity, corporate design, and regulatory compliance in all communications, both internally and externally. Events - Coordinate the planning, development, and execution of cross-business / company-wide events for both internal and external audiencesFinances and budget - Manage and apply rigorous control to the country's communications budget, ensuring transparency and maximizing effectiveness and efficiency. COLLABORATION / LEADERSHIP Managing stakeholders' expectations which cross multiple sites, and functions management levels, operating in a business under continuous transformation.Provide leadership and guidance to ensure effective harmonization in alignment with group directives within the Communications scopeEngage with MarkComms to identify and address synergies and cross-collaboration.Support employer branding initiatives to enhance talent acquisition, strengthen the company's reputation, and foster employee engagement.Participate in Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.
Qualifications for the roleUndergraduate degree, or higher, in Communications, PR, or other relevant discipline.Experience in Communication or Public Relations in a matrix-style organization and in a management role.Fluency in English (written and spoken) and Portuguese.In-depth demonstrable knowledge and experience of all aspects of the internal and external communications mix.Extensive network within the press/media and experience in copywriting and editing.Understanding of the impact of communications on the organizational Brand and ability to advise Senior Leadership as well as communicate at all levels of the organization.Strong Business Partnering and communication skills, with experience of managing internal and external relationships with senior stakeholders.
