What is the role about?
This role supports the critical business functions of the organization by providing legal guidance and expertise. This position will have a main role in providing legal advice to multiple affiliates in areas of significant company impact, in general business transactions and labor and employment matters, and in the formulation of corporate strategy; will assist with maintaining oversight responsibility in law related areas of company impact, involvement in policy and corporate compliance matters, and will provide risk management assessments and recommendations to further the business objectives.
Which tasks will you perform?
Draft necessary legal documents and develop conclusions and recommendations. Assist clients in addressing situations of legal exposure or risk; understand overall business risk tolerance and consider it in the context of risk management strategies and actions. Create practical, creative, and effective solutions to legal issues. Take the lead role in negotiations, as necessary. Understand the business client’s position and needs. Consider the long-term business and strategic consequences of possible outcomes. Deliver difficult messages or news; or challenge the client when necessary; respond to client challenges to advise directly and effectively. Establish a wide network of relationships; build rapport with associates at all levels within the General Counsel department and the business client.What do we expect from you?
You will have (required):
Juris Doctor required from an accredited law school. Must maintain an active law license in an applicable state. 3-5 years of experience with knowledge of labor and employment law, corporate, and complex legal practices and procedures Some travel required: less than 10%You may have (preferred):
Litigation skills, compliance background, or in-house counsel or corporate experience. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, negotiation skills, and analytical skills. Bilingual in Spanish. Ability to work and make informed decisions independently and on own initiative. Demonstrates trust when working with others Ability to work closely with a wide range of personnel, including frequent interactions with top-level executives and to collaborate internally, intercompany, and externally. Ability to influence, lead, and coordinate projects and/or cases that may cross functional or business lines. Prioritizes and acts in the best interests of the company by advancing organizational goals, focusing on solution-oriented issues, and making clear, decisive choices.
