Job Description

Summary    The purpose of this position is to address legal matters within specific departments and subject matter areas while maintaining close communication with colleagues to ensure an integrated, consistent approach to legal services, enterprise wide. 
Essential Functions  

Draft, review and negotiate high volume of various legal/commercial contracts and licensesResearch regulatory issues as needs ariseAdd and maintain content within contract lifecycle management systemIdentify areas of potential legal risk and develop strategies to address themResolve disputes with vendors, suppliers, contractors, subcontractors and other business partners Assist with the creation of a standardized set of policies and procedures surrounding contract lifecycle management, contract playbooks, etc.Advise stakeholders and other in-house attorneys on appropriate course of action regarding contracts, regulatory requirements, and other situational specific factorsEnsure all activities are in compliance with federal, state, and local statutory and regulatory requirements as well as processes and proceduresModel behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; Showing people they matter at every turnProvide support for our dealer programAssist in management of joint ventures, real estate relationships and general real estate portfolio management Provide support for other areas of the legal department as neededComplete other duties as assigned
 

QualificationsA Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited college or university, requiredLicense to practice law in the state of Tennessee or registration with the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners if not licensed in the state of Tennessee, required Minimum one-year prior experience working in a law firm or other corporate legal setting is required; three years’ experience preferredExperience drafting and revising legal documents and preparing policies and proceduresKnowledge of general business and contract law with emphasis on in real estate, corporate, construction, franchise or utilities is preferred Intermediate Microsoft Office skillsTime management and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment while working autonomouslyAbility to draft, review and interpret complex documentsCritical thinking and ability to proactively identify potential problems and mitigate existing issuesLegal research capabilities with attention to detailAbility to demonstrate confidence, professionalism and assertiveness in complex and challenging circumstancesAbility to think strategicallyAbility to lead, organize, prioritize, and manage projects effectivelyNo job is too big or too smallExcellent writing, negotiation, interpersonal and speaking skillsAbility to work constructively, collaboratively and cross functionallyStrong oral and written communication and advocacy skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsSound judgment and ability to analyze situations and information Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skillsPractical and enthusiastic problem-solver who is confident, flexible and calm and under fire
