Job Summary: 

As a Corporate Investment Banking Operations Analyst within our operations team, you will be tasked with monitoring and assisting the daily settlement process to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions. Your role will involve collaboration with sales/traders, clients, custodians, and internal teams to maintain a well-controlled and efficient operating model. 

Job Responsibilities:

Monitor and assist with the daily settlement process. Investigate and resolve queries reported by the settlement agent. Calculate and verify daily settlement funding requirements. Manage and report short positions accurately and on time. Prepare and process cash receipts, payments, and journals. Reconcile bank accounts daily and resolve nostro outstanding items. Perform control reconciliations, including stock/cash positions. Support the transaction life cycle, identifying risks and implementing controls. Liaise with stakeholders for timely and accurate transaction processing. Capture trades in corporate systems and ensure correct risk system capture. Identify and execute process improvements and support key initiatives.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

5+ years of relevant market experience. Proficient Excel skills. Strong analytical and numerical skills. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to interact effectively with clients, custodians, and settlement authorities. Ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships with other areas in the bank. Ability to prioritize and coordinate workflows effectively. Ability to work well under pressure. Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

B. Comm or similar qualification preferred. Qualified JSE Settlement Officer is an advantage. Thorough understanding of the trade lifecycle and market conventions for Fixed Income and Money Market products. Understanding of international/cross-border Bond settlements via Euroclear is advantageous. Cash Management experience is an advantage. Good understanding of South African Financial Markets products.
