Corporate Legal Counsel (F/M/X) - Belgium

About the role

 

Our Legal team is integrated in the General Counsel Corporate Governance & Corporate Secretary department. As a Corporate Legal Counsel you will work on advising the company on various corporate related legal matters and ensuring compliance with Belgian and EU regulations related to listed companies, anticipating and managing legal risks. You will be accountable for: Corporate Governance: Give advice on corporate governance matters and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Anticipating legal risks and cross-functional skills Corporate Finance: Give advice and support the Corporate Finance team on projects related to the funding and finance activities of the Solvay Group. Stakeholder Management: Work closely with various internal departments, including Finance, Investor Relations,  HR, and Communications, to provide integrated and efficient legal support. External Counsel Management: Coordinate with external legal advisors as required, ensuring cost-effective and strategic use of external legal resources. Training and Development: Conduct legal training sessions for employees to promote understanding of legal risks and compliance requirements. We offer a permanent contract based on hybrid working mode.
 

About you

 

Relevant education degree or equivalent in Belgian Master in Law. 5 to 7 years of experience as a corporate lawyer; experience as a company lawyer is a plus.

 

Competencies:

In-depth knowledge of Belgian corporate law, corporate governance, EU regulations and commercial law. Fluency in  English is essential. Proficiency in Dutch and French is a plus. Client-oriented and good at giving pragmatic advice.  

Behaviors:

Able to translate complex legal matters in simple business terms. Able to identify potential risks in the department and solution-oriented. Hands-on approach, agility and ability to work autonomously.


About the pay and benefits

 

Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. While the Belgium base pay reasonably expected for this role is 95.000€ to 119.000€, your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
