Corporate Project & Design Engineer
Exciting Job Opportunity: Corporate Project & Design Engineer Step into a dynamic role where your expertise drives capital project success, from initial equipment selection to project completion. This opportunity calls for a strategic thinker who can juggle multiple aspects of project management, including CapEx processing, purchasing, installation, and start-up support. Key Responsibilities: + Capital Project Execution: Spearhead capital projects, overseeing everything from equipment selection and justification to purchasing, installation, and start-up support. + Engineering Design Leadership: Develop and manage engineering design specifications and Techno-Economic Models. This includes process design, P&ID, mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, and financial analyses (CapEx, OpEx, NPV). + Process Optimization: Enhance and support the Engineering Work Process by providing strategic direction and bolstering the workflow. + Team Collaboration: Engineers within the team will be assigned portions of capital projects based on expertise and availability. This may include project management, technical design of packaging equipment & paint making/processing equipment, and construction management. + Project Management: Manage projects from conceptual design through to successful startup transition to the local plant team. This involves managing budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure all projects meet established success criteria. + Innovative Design: Recommend and implement manufacturing systems designed for optimized machine, human interaction, method/process, raw material, and environmental variability. Incorporate Lean principles to improve reliability, ease of use & maintenance, minimize changeover times, and reduce production losses. + Construction Management: Oversee contractors, technicians, skilled trades, and internal resources to ensure the safe installation and start-up of manufacturing systems. Coordinate with plant operational teams for training, standard operating procedures, and spare parts identification. + Regulatory Compliance: Apply Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations, building codes, and NFPA fire codes to capital projects and design specifications. + Vendor Management: Manage external Engineering Firm resources on large capital projects. + Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain frequent interface with corporate staff, plant staff, operators, and maintenance personnel across a 2-shift operation. Qualifications: + Education: BS in Chemical Engineering preferred. Candidates with Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Packaging, and Electrical Engineering degrees with relevant hands-on experience will also be considered. + Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a plant engineering support role with hands-on experience in engineering, process design, continuous improvement, troubleshooting equipment, project management, and project start-up verification. + Skills: Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, and technical communication skills with the ability to lead and thrive in fast-paced, multitasking environments. + Travel Readiness: Willingness to travel frequently to support capital project assignments (approximately 33%).
