Corporate Risk Manager

This Manager Risk position leads and manages the development and execution of enterprise claims efforts. Works closely with risk “owners” in all departments to identify, measure, mitigate and monitor risks that could impact department and enterprise objectives. Work with employees/claimants, insurance company claims handlers, third party claims administrators, nurse case managers, attorneys, and other stakeholders. This role is also responsible for partnering with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Human Resources (HR) functions to ensure Generac operations are conducted in conformance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, permits and regulations while maximizing the use of industry best practices. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** + Design and lead a streamlined incident and claim handling structure – including clear definition of roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities for internal leadership, third party claims administrators, & insurance company claims handlers + Work with site EHS/HR teams to gather information and investigate incidents to support site teams and Third-Party Administrator claims examiners + Ensure alignment of strategic and business practices with claims handling and action plans. This includes assisting in obtaining medical records, managing lost time and coordinating return to work plans with internal and external stakeholders, and coordinating with nurse case management to ensure timely and appropriate treatment until maximum medical improvement is achieved for full duty. + Assist external & in-house counsel with litigated claims + Resolve claims within delegation of authority and make appropriate recommendations for management on higher value claims. Regularly provide status reports and recommendations on larger claims to supervisor + Lead change by recognizing that change is essential, set goals for change, and lead purposeful adaptations to work that align with Generac’s strategic vision + Assist in development of loss control and loss reduction initiatives to reduce frequency and severity of losses + Review and approve monthly claim reports. Make reserve and settlement recommendations, when appropriate. + Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and changes in insurance laws and regulations + Establish tracking and reporting mechanisms and dashboards to measure incident and claim handling effectiveness and progress + Manage the reporting of monthly incident and claim trends; develop data analytic dashboards to track performance + Assist in response to OSHA complaints and investigations. + Lead regular claim reviews with internal stakeholders and insurance company claims handlers + Enhance overall awareness and understanding of claims performance + Communicate clearly by listening to others and the team, share information concisely with purpose, and be open to opinions + Inspire others through vision, confidence, and team member recognition + Develop incident and claims training materials for site leadership + Build relationships by establishing connections with others to build trust, share ideas, and accomplish team goals + Develop people by helping others become more effective through strengths, expectations, encouragement, and coaching + Build strong relationships between HR, EHS, Legal, and Operations teams + May participate in key special projects as requested, and perform additional assignments as needed and instructed by the manager. **Minimum Qualifications:** + Bachelors Degree in Risk Management/Business field + 5 years leading/managing Workers Compensation lost-time indemnity claims & regulatory requirements. + 3 years people management/leadership experience **Preferred Job Requirements:** + Masters Degree in Risk Management/Business field + Insurance or Risk Management designations/certificates/credentials are preferred (e.g., AIC, CPCU, CWCP, WCS) + 6 years in multi-lines claims handling (Auto Liability, General Liability, Property, and Workers’ Compensation) + Experience in managing Worker’s Compensation claims in monopolistic states + Experience with Canadian Worker’s Compensation laws **Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:** + Ability to manage and execute the coordination of multiple projects within required timeframes and expectations; + Demonstrated excellence in communication skills; be able to inform both orally and in writing; + Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, data analytics systems (Power BI, Tableau), advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (Pareto analysis via pivot tables) + Able to perform detail-oriented tasks; + Ability and willingness to work at both a strategic and detailed level to ensure continuous improvement in claims management **Great Reasons to work for Generac:** + Competitive Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, 401k and many more + State-of-the-art facility with an onsite gym, walking trails, café, free parking and many employee activities + Scheduled events throughout the year that allow our employees, both current and retirees, to gather together and enjoy their time with their families and co-workers + Eligible for summer hours!
